Wow, so apparently, I haven’t updated this since April 2015! Say whaaaat. Many, many, many things have happened since then, actually! (hint: no human babies, yet!)
Can you believe that since I last blogged, I’m on my third principal at work? Yes, I know. I’ve been doing nothing but transitioning and transitioning. Its always tricky to be someone’s assistant – you have to get to know them, figure them out, navigate the relationship by deciphering language, cues, etc. I’ve grown a lot professionally and socially at work. I gained a handful of new friends at work since, which is nice. Otherwise, my work life is boring.
I’m slowly but surely becoming an honorary New Yorker! I’ve been exploring the village
more since last April. I’ve found lots of (mostly food) places that have become my usual spots for when lunch isn’t being served at work – Saigon Shack, Sweetgreen, Mamouns, Dos Torros – the works! I’m also now a regular at my favorite coffee shop, Porto Rico! Nothing beats $0.75 iced coffee (if you bring your own cup)! I’m even finally figuring out which train lines go where! Amazing, right? It still seems sometimes, though, that I’m a foreigner. I’m getting there. This past summer, I even made it to Governor’s Island – a NYC must!
We moved! *does happy dance and cries tears of joy* We officially moved out of the (technically) mother-in-law’s! We moved into a cute little (and I mean little) apartment! We were soooo nervous about moving and being totally independent from my partner’s mom. Really! Turns out, it was the best decision we’ve made! Freedom!
We have a new addition! His name is Benny and he’s an 8 month old, 30-something-lb puppy! We aren’t really sure what kind of dog he is, but we heard that his mom is a lab/shih tzu mix. Having him has been a pleasure, but his first few nights were a nightmare for all of us! He and Pugsley took quite a while to warm up to each other – a long while! They’re getting along better now, thank goodness. See photos of them below!
Until next time!
